Position Summary:
The Department of Biological Sciences in the School of Science, Engineering and Health at Messiah University invites applications for a faculty position in Biology beginning August 1, 2027.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate's primary teaching responsibilities will be courses for the university's undergraduate majors in biological sciences and service courses for other majors. The assigned teaching load will emphasize human biology: human anatomy & physiology, gross anatomy, and advanced physiology. Other courses could include a first year Cellular Foundations of Life course, general education, and additional courses across the biological and chemical sciences according to departmental need. A background/interest in chemistry is not required but would be an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active undergraduate research program, mentor students in independent research, and contribute to departmental and university service.

Qualifications:


- Ph.D. in Biology, Physiology, or a closely related field
- Postdoctoral experience strongly encouraged
- Demonstrated teaching excellence or strong potential for excellence in undergraduate instruction
- Evidence of, or clear potential for, an active research program involving undergraduate students
- Commitment to undergraduate teaching and research within the context of a Christian university

The Department of Biological Sciences offers a choice of majors and concentrations that seek to provide students with an understanding of the sciences that enables them to pursue a range of post-graduate options, including graduate school, medical school, the allied health field, or employment in industry, business, education, and government.

The department has ten full-time tenure-track faculty and offers majors in biology, biology with secondary teaching certification, environmental science, molecular biology and sustainability studies.

Compensation: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
