This position is responsible for providing technical support for the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Laboratory at Virginia Tech to ensure seamless operations and promote a thriving research environment. The Rajagopalan lab performs research on mammalian cells, organoids, cell-based and ‘omics measurements. We collaborate with other groups on virology-related projects. Duties will involve performing in vitro procedures in a BSL2 environment. This position will primarily support ongoing efforts in the laboratory to assemble organoids and characterize organoid-pathogen interactions. Responsibilities may also include data analysis, report and manuscript preparation, compliance with all safety regulations, and assistance with protocol development. The individual is expected to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams from academia, government and industry.

Required Qualifications

-Successful completion of a BS in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a closely related field
-At least one year of experience as a research technician
-Experience performing cell culture, including sterile techniques
-Experience with in vitro techniques, including infections and plaque assays

Preferred Qualifications

-Proficient in molecular biology skills.
-Have the ability and interest in learning new techniques
-Able to follow verbal and written instructions; be observant, attentive to detail, organized, efficient, and work well with others
