The Pre-Analytics Processing Technician plays a vital role in ensuringaccurateand efficient laboratory operations by processing patient specimens, performing daily quality assurance activities, andmaintaininglaboratory equipment. By combining advanced technology, centralized data, and close collaboration between laboratory professionals and ordering providers, we help streamline the diagnostic process—enabling faster, more informed treatment decisions and improving outcomes for the patients we serve.
A caregiver in this position worksfull-time|evenings| 3:00pm—11:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform advanced manual processing.
Interpret and accession reference lab specimens.
Collectand analyze data.
Perform body fluid processing usingaseptictechnique.
Conduct higher levelaccessioningin the Lab Information System (LIS).
Perform extensive manual processing for esoteric testing and non-Cleveland Clinic reference laboratories.
Perform all duties of the Laboratory Processing Technician II.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Associate’s degree(preferably inScience)
Two years of lab experience
ORatotal of four years of experience as a Lab Technician or comparable processing experience may substitute the education requirement
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry,physicsor medical laboratory science (this may substitute two years of experience)
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements
- May require extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting.
- Handles and transports bio hazardous materials.
- Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
- Must have normal or corrected vision.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $25.00
Maximum hourly: $34.85
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
