Job Description

Summary

The Intern/Aide – Research position provides hands-on exposure to clinical and laboratory research within the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center. The intern will support ongoing research studies by assisting with data, laboratory, and administrative activities while gaining foundational knowledge of pediatric hematology/oncology research operations. This internship is designed to foster learning, skill development, and application of research concepts in a supervised, educational environment.

Job Duties

  • Assist with database management, including data entry and maintenance
  • Support inventory management of research supplies and materials
  • Conduct chart reviews to extract relevant research data
  • Assist with sample processing following established research protocols
  • Provide general administrative support related to research activities
  • Participate in training and educational activities to support research objectives
  • Apply learned concepts to assist with active research projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment as a high school student, undergraduate, graduate student
  • Interest in pediatric hematology/oncology or pediatric healthcare research
  • Basic computer skills and comfort working with databases
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow research protocols
  • Willingness to learn laboratory, administrative, and research procedures
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a research and clinical environment
