Job Description
Summary
The Intern/Aide will support ongoing research studies within the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center as part of a paid summer internship program. This role provides hands-on exposure to pediatric hematology/oncology research through structured training and supervised project involvement. The internship is designed to foster professional development by building foundational knowledge in research operations, data handling, and laboratory processes while supporting active research initiatives.
Job Purpose
Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.
Job Duties
- Assist with database management related to research studies
- Support inventory management for research and laboratory supplies
- Conduct chart reviews in accordance with established research protocols
- Assist with sample processing under supervision
- Participate in research activities that support current and ongoing projects
- Apply learned concepts to practical research tasks and documentation
- Perform general administrative tasks related to research operations as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in pediatric hematology/oncology or pediatric healthcare
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort working with databases
- General laboratory skills or willingness to learn laboratory procedures
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
- Interest in gaining research experience in a healthcare or academic setting
Work Authorization Requirement:
