Job Description
Summary
The Intern/Aide will support ongoing research studies within the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center as part of a paid summer internship program. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to pediatric hematology/oncology research while fostering the development of foundational research, administrative, and laboratory skills. The intern will receive structured training and mentorship, gaining practical experience that supports current research projects and enhances understanding of research operations in a healthcare setting.
The candidate will join a team of scientists, clinicians, and technicians focused on developing experimental immune-based cancer therapies. The research will center on the development and optimization of novel gene-modified T cells for the treatment of treat brain cancers.
Job Duties
- Assist with database management related to research studies
- Support inventory management activities for research supplies and materials
- Conduct chart reviews in accordance with research protocols
- Participate in sample processing under appropriate supervision
- Apply general laboratory, computer, and administrative skills to support ongoing research projects
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student interested in research experience
- Interest in pediatric hematology/oncology or pediatric healthcare
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn database and inventory management
- Basic understanding of research concepts or laboratory environments
