What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an experienced All-Source Intelligence Analyst for our Emerging Disruptive Technologies portfolio who will be responsible for conducting in-depth analysis of technical intelligence data from multiple sources to support decision-making processes for high-level customers within the U.S. intelligence and policy-making communities. The ideal candidate will possess a mastery of all-source analytic disciplines and tradecraft, with a proven track record of delivering timely, high-quality written intelligence products and briefings. This role requires a deep understanding of the intelligence cycle and the ability to implement it effectively. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional collaboration skills and a proactive "can do" attitude.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • All-Source Analysis:
  • Conduct comprehensive all-source intelligence analysis on technical topics, synthesizing information from various sources including SIGINT, HUMINT, OSINT, MASINT, and GEOINT into a clear analytic message.
  • Seamlessly implement US IC tradecraft standards into all aspects of all-source analytic work.

Understand the needs of an intelligence end-user and demonstrate the ability to tailor to their intelligence needs in scope, focus, and delivery method.

  • Analytic Review:
  • As needed, conduct analytic reviews to evaluate the quality and relevance of intelligence products, ensuring that analyses are robust, accurate, and aligned with customer needs.

Utilize critical thinking and advanced analytic techniques to assess the validity of sources and the reliability of information, enhancing the overall integrity of intelligence assessments.

  • Writing and Reporting:
  • Produce clear, concise, and well-structured analytical reports and assessments tailored to the needs of high-level customers.
  • Ensure that all written products adhere to established standards and are delivered within specified timelines.
  • Briefing and Presentation:
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality briefings to senior officials and stakeholders, effectively communicating complex technical information in an understandable manner.
  • Engage with customers to clarify requirements and ensure that their intelligence needs are met.
  • Intelligence Cycle Implementation:
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the intelligence cycle, including planning, collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination. Be able to provide examples of doing this on an iterative basis.
  • Implement best practices in intelligence analysis to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of teamwork and shared objectives, to include collaboration with non-intelligence personnel such as technical experts, scientists, and technologists.
  • Participate in joint analysis efforts, contributing expertise and insights to enhance overall intelligence products.
  • Seamlessly integrate technical subject matter expertise from technical experts into products for a non-technical customer base.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies in intelligence analysis, continuously seeking opportunities for professional development.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of analytical tools and processes.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$114,000 - $227,500

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • A Bachelor¿s degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
  • Active DOE Q or DOD TS clearance
  • Active SCI security clearance, which may require a polygraph test

Qualifications We Desire:

The ideal R&D Systems Research & Analysis candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess the following:

  • Graduate degree in a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
  • The ability to understand, synthesize, and draw insights from multiple types of data streams (e.g., technical, economic, policy) through the use of various analytical tools.
  • Experience working as part of multi-disciplinary teams examining complex systems.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of good project management, especially as it pertains to the execution of federally-funded work (e.g., proposal development through annal review, final delivery, and closeout).
  • Experience working with federal sponsors in the defense and intelligence sectors, as well as their domestic FFRDC partners, international partnering agencies, and foreign governments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams delivering critical information to customers in a succinct manner.

Also, for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:

  • Mastery of all-source analytic disciplines and tradecraft; familiarity with analytical tools and software.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and present it clearly.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, demonstrating a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in all-source intelligence analysis, with a focus on technical topics within the U.S. intelligence community. Prefer strategic intelligence experience with a civilian intelligence agency, or military intelligence beyond unit level.
  • CDASA-I certification or its equivalent IC professional certification desired, but not required.
  • Experience briefing senior officials and stakeholders

About Our Team:

The Emerging Disruptive Technology department (5934) specializes in technical analysis across all facets of foreign science and technology programs. The department evaluates, researches, and develops emerging technologies by leveraging broad and deep technical expertise from across Sandia and delivers timely analysis and insights for our partners.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) SCI security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship. SCI access may also require a polygraph examination. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain these levels of access may be impacted.
