Job Description

Develop and support web-based applications used in production systems for the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF). Work with users across the facility to analyze requirements, propose solutions, and implement applications.

Position Requirements

  • Significant frontend development with Angular for enterprise applications
  • Knowledge of ALCF processes and data flow
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with javascript development for the web, including Javascript, JSON, HTML5, Node.js, Flask, Django, Python.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with user interface development, methodology, rapid application development, and designing responsive usable, intuitive web applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with modern test automation tools including Karma/Jasmine and designing responsive usable, intuitive web applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Websockets.
  • Considerable knowledge of systems analysis, systems design, database design, computer science, and skill in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting complex or multiple integrated systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of relational database development and tools.  Experience with DB2 is a significant plus.
  • Considerable skills to perform effectively in a service role and balance multiple work assignments to meet deadlines by appropriately organizing available time.
  • Experience with Linux, ORM, NGINX, LDAP, SNMP is highly desirable. 
  • Experience with CSS, Bootstrap, proxy servers, familiarity with DNS configurations is highly desirable. 
  • Must have ability to function effectively as member of small team, managing multiple tasks associated with a wide range of project types and project scopes.
  • Good oral and written communication skills as well as good interpersonal relationship skills.
  • A user-oriented outlook is important.
  • The candidate must be able to serve as a mentor to current and future ALCF team members, providing knowledge and expertise in Web services technologies.
  • Experience with highly interactive visual graphical distributed applications.

  • RD3: Bachelors degree and 8+ years of experience, or a Masters degree and 5+ years of experience, or a PhD and 3+ years of experience
