Job Description

The Information Protection Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Analyst is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and protecting CUI residing within the Laboratory.  The Laboratory’s Information Protection Program includes strategic planning, program coordination, program maturation, program budget, and development of policies, procedures, and employee training which ensures protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) under the custodianship of Argonne National Laboratory.

Example duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Implement Information Protection practices between Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) stakeholder departments, including but not limited to: Export Control, Cyber Security, Legal, Counterintelligence, OPSEC, Foreign National Access Program, Global Travel, Strategic Partnership Projects, High Risk Property, the Safeguards & Security Site Security Officer and Classification Services, and Information Assurance Representatives.
  • Provide consultation on the implementation of Information Protection practices within Argonne Scientific Program Divisions.
  • Utilize analytic tools to help identify, monitor, and demonstrate protection of CUI.
  • Implement policies and procedures for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Science & Technology Risk Matrix protection requirements.
  • Engage with other U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratories to enhance the Information Protection initiative.
  • Maintain and deliver Information Protection training, awareness and outreach programs.
  • Maintain and deliver Information Protection self-assessments and incident response protocols.
  • Conduct risk assessments for the protection of CUI at the Laboratory.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies and processes for the protection of CUI at the Laboratory.
  • Represent the Information Protection program as a key resource in a consultative manner.

Full-time remote work is an option.

Position Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience implementing information protection methodologies that include both physical and digital information products and incorporate both technical and human control systems and procedures.

  • Professional skills in oral and written communication in both administrative and technical areas to implement practical solutions to Information Protection issues.

  • Knowledge and experience working with U.S. Federal Regulations related to National Security, Scientific and Technical Information, and Controlled Unclassified Information.

  • Education and experience or equivalent combination of a bachelor’s degree and two (2) + years.
