Job Description
Under supervision, perform housekeeping work required for the cleaning and maintenance of the Pittenger Student Center Hotel following proper procedures and techniques for equipment and cleaning products.
The Ball State University Hotel is seeking candidates for our vacant part-time Hotel Housekeeping positions. The successful candidate should possess a strong work ethic, commitment to the organization, and attention to detail. These positions work 20 hours per week. Days and hours vary according to the number of reservations and guests staying in hotel. Days would vary between Sunday through Monday and all shifts are daytime shifts.
Among the finest facilities on the Ball State campus, our 25 room hotel located on the third floor of the L.A. Pittenger Student Center provides convenient accommodations for campus and Muncie visitors.

Job Function:

Minimum Education:
1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Minimum Experience:
1.No allergies to soaps, cleaning agents, chemicals or environmental factors in housekeeping service.
2.Must be able to read and comprehend all specified policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, University policies, procedures and communications, and perform basic mathematical functions.
3.Must be able to perform all mental and physical requirements as outlined in each job duty.
4. Must have at least one year work experience (full time or part time).
5.You must be 18 years or older.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Change bed linens, make beds with clean linens, and flip mattresses as required.
- Clean and service all areas in restrooms in the hotel rooms to include, but not limited to, lavatory, toilet, showers, bath tub and floor areas, etc.
- Maintain carpet floor coverings, i.e., vacuum, remove spots and stains, extraction cleaning of carpet and upholstered furniture in all hotel rooms.
- Dust, vacuum, clean and/or polish furniture and surfaces; clean facilities, fixtures, hardware and windows; change lighting in table/desk lamps and clean fixtures as needed in all Hotel rooms.
- Collect and dispose of trash, refuse, recycling materials and debris from all hotel rooms into designated receptacles.
- Collect soiled towels and linens for laundry; load and use industrial washer and dryer to launder towels and linens; store clean laundry in proper location.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of job related chemicals, and environmental, health and physical concerns.
- Lock and unlock doors as required to perform job related duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
