Are you passionate about your work and ready to be part of a high performing team? If so, we invite you to explore great opportunity with organization 5473! Sandia’s Integrated Technical Systems department is actively seeking a motivated and experienced Cyber Assurance Architect.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Aid in the generation of new, and reaccreditation of existing cyber security plans.
  • Determine security requirement gaps and provide recommendations or mitigations for addressing those gaps.
  • Work closely with our Information Security Site Manager (ISSM), Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) and system administrators to provide interpretation of NIST/CNSSI requirements and guidelines along with validation testing.
  • Establish Operational Technology (OT) sanitization procedures or periods processing protocols.
  • Perform cyber, telecommunications, and controlled article security assessments.
  • Capture, prioritize, and present information requested via Federal Cyber Security data calls.
  • Candidates must be able to handle a high-pressure environment while partnering with customers in multiple departments as well as industry partners and partner agencies.

Due to the nature of the role, this person must be able to work onsite. The ability to occasionally travel.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Assurance, or relevant field, plus 5 years of experience; OR equivalent (AS +9) (no degree +13) .
  • Experience with CNARS, CARP, and Archer Programs .
  • Experience with Federal Agency level agreements (MOU, ISA, MFR, etc.).
  • Experience in the creation and maintenance of full system security plans .
  • Previous experience with information systems and the application of security controls .
  • Active DOE L with the ability to obtain a Q Level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Active DOE Q or DOD TS security clearance.
  • Familiarity with Center 5400 operations and programs.
  • Experience working with a federal cyber security program.
  • Experience deconflicting varying agency regulations and mission requirements.
  • Prior experience crafting cyber security plans and/or performing cyber security or telecommunications assessments.
  • Prior experience crafting OT sanitization procedures or periods processing protocols.
  • Knowledge and experience of DOE/NNSA cyber security orders and policies; relevant federal and private standards and requirements (e.g., NIST, ISO, CNSS, STIGS).
  • CISM or CISSP certification.
  • Prior system administration experience, to include a detailed understanding of common operating systems (e.g. Windows, Linux, and Mac) and networking architectures.
  • Prior experience as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO).
  • Detailed understanding of the Risk Management Framework as detailed in various NIST publications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

About Our Team:

Center 5400 Integrated Military Systems Development manages several large projects, principally system engineering and proof-of-principle demonstrations of advanced and exploratory, missile defense, reentry, rocket, aided-navigation, and guided flight systems for Defense Program customers and Other Federal Agencies (e.g., DoD, NASA, etc.) with an annual budget of approximately $50-60M.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance.
