Job Description

The BMT Insurance Biller is responsible for follow up and collection on all patient accounts. The BMT IB is also responsible for the submission of BMT Hospital UB92 claims as well as appropriate 1500 claims and the coordination of payments received for physician services rendered by Moffitt Medical Group (MMG). The BMT IB must coordinate with the nurse to ensure that the charges are billed at the correct stage of the transplant period. The BMT IB must be knowledgeable of all BMT contracts, including; global, pre and post payment periods as well as payer regulations and have discrete knowledge of HIPPA Guidelines as they relate to insurance billing. The BMT IB is responsible for knowledge of all third party insurance billing processes. The goal of the BMT IB is to collect monies due in the shortest possible time while maintaining the utmost customer satisfaction and service. Must be detailed oriented and have experience with excel .

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare initial claims for submission to third party payers timely.  
  • Request demand UB-92’s, itemized bills and inpatient file folders
  • Ensure the BMT payer/Billing spreadsheets are accurate and up to date.
  • Process or request adjustments for accounts that have been deemed uncollectable.
  • Review medical records with the nursing staffing to determine global or non-global charges.
  • Review contracts to determine if payment are appropriate.

 Credentials and Qualifications:

· High School Diploma/GED required.

·  A minimum of three (3) years in hospital or physician billing required.

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite including PowerPoint, Word and Excel, etc.
  • Experience with UB-92’s, itemized bills and inpatient file folders
  • Working with secondary insurance carriers.
