Job Description

The purpose of this visit is to collaborate with the Neutron and X-ray Scattering Group (PSE-MSD) and the Inelastic X-ray and Nuclear Resonant Scattering Group (APS-XSD) on investigating phonon softening and the evolution of charge-density wave correlations under high pressure and planning and preparing for experiments post APS upgrade on the 30-ID and 6-ID-D beamlines. These projects are in support of our FWP project to study the evolution of charge and spin density waves under pressure and doping in low dimensional systems and will also involve analysis of previous measured data and finalizing publications

Position Requirements

Ph.D. in experimental physics or equivalent

Broad knowledge of hard condensed matter physics and in electronic, magnetic, and structural properties of materials.

Detailed understanding of Charge Density Wave formation and phonon softening.

Experience in performing and analyzing inelastic x-ray and neutron scattering measurements from single crystals, expertise in single crystal diffraction experiments, and in utilizing extreme sample environments in scattering experiments.
