Job Description

Summary

Works in the lab focuses on the development and maintenance of neural circuits in mouse models. The primary responsibilities of this position includes mouse colony management and care tasks such as weaning, breeding, clipping, PCR genotyping, and record keeping. The applicant will also assist with administrative tasks such as ordering, invoice management, preparing lab stocks and solutions, assisting in laboratory stocking and organization, and documenting results. The applicant will work under minimal supervision by a higher-level research staff member but be capable of managing his or her own duties and research efforts in consultation with the supervisor.

Job Duties

  • Understands and works on analysis of neural circuits.
  • Assists with Stereotactic surgeries.
  • Performs tissue staining and confocal imaging.
  • Works on mouse colony management and tasks that include such as weaning, breeding, clipping, PCR genotyping, and record keeping.
  • Assists with administrative tasks such as ordering, and invoice management.
  • Prepares lab stocks and solutions,
  • Assists in laboratory stocking and organization.
  • Documents results.
  • Generates and analyzes cell type specific knockout models
  • Reports cross validation.
  • Works on quantification of neural and non-neuronal changes to the retina and brain.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mouse handling and related models is desired.
  • Background in neuroscience is a plus.
