Job Description

Perform administrative support and supervisory functions for the Dean, including creating reports, maintaining college budgets; maintaining the Dean's calendar, and planning events; maintain and oversee the day-to-day operations and functions of the Honors College.

Job Function:

Perform administrative support and supervisory functions for the Dean, including creating reports, maintaining college budgets; maintaining the Dean's calendar, and planning events; maintain and oversee the day-to-day operations and functions of the Honors College.

Minimum Education:

Associate's degree or the equivalent of two additional years of related experience will be accepted in lieu of an associate's degree.

Minimum Experience:

At least one year of administrative support or related experience; supervisory experience; and some experience working with budgets.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in an academic office or additional years of related experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor student records; i.e. track fulfillment of Honors requirements, and ensure that each student has an up to date record for both Honors College requirements and departmental honors requirements.
  • Prepare graduation lists and verify and send to commencement office each semester for both Honors College graduates and departmental honors graduates; monitor graduation requirements for Honors students, including fulfillment of thesis requirement; prepare certificates and request transcript notations for Honors College graduates and departmental honors graduates.
  • Create class sections for each student who is registered for his/her thesis and assign to the appropriate professor; monitor thesis completion.
  • Monitor and maintain budgets for the college, including university and foundation accounts.
  • Work with Associate Dean and other departments to schedule honors classes each semester; monitor enrollment; code instructor information; schedule rooms; process course adds/drops for students as needed.
  • Schedule appointments for Dean and Associate Dean; answer questions from current students, prospective students, parents, faculty, etc.
  • Track progress of students completing departmental honors and correspond with department representatives to confirm fulfillment of requirements for departmental honors.
  • Assign and review work, orient and train staff, and make recommendations as to interviewing and selection, performance appraisals and discipline.
  • Prepare travel forms and reserve vehicles for Dean and Associate Dean and other faculty on campus teaching Honors College classes or participating in college activities and organizations.
  • Prepare EPAFs for all personnel including faculty compensation; approve and send documents to next level of approval.
  • Manage and coordinate the process of student evaluation of Honors course and faculty.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
