Job Description
Summary
Responsible for administration and support tasks related to Baylor College of Medicine leave of absences programs, including Family Medical Leave (FMLA) and non-medical leaves of absence. This position will interact with employees and management responding to their inquiries and concerns, interpret policies and procedures, handle complaints and provides education utilizing the resources and services of Leave Administration. This position will also provide second level support with regards to responding to applications for unemployment compensation to ensure federal and state compliance.

Due to the nature of the position, the candidate would need to exhibit a high level of customer service, have good critical thinking and interpersonal skills, be adept at problem solving and understand all aspects of relationship building.
Job Duties
- Administers and coordinates leave of absence process, including all paperwork, forms, communications, timekeeping related to all Baylor College of Medicine leave of absences.
- Ensures adherence to the process and policies related to leave of absence. Escalates complex or challenging leave issues to Senior Manager, Leave Administration.
- Responds to inquiries regarding leave of absence issues. Research questions and/or refers to other resources for a response.
- Prepares and distributes employer response to leave of absence requests to employees and departments/business units.
- Assists with training and education of leave of absence policies and procedures.
- Works closely on leave of absence matters with departments/business units, Employee Relations, Benefits, Payroll, Risk Management and the Office of the General Counsel.
- Ensures all up-to-date legal postings (includes federal and state employment posters) are placed in designated areas and the BCM intranet within established time frames.
- Investigates and responds to applications for unemployment.
- Reviews and gathers documentation for subpoenas or other legal matters.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field.
- Two to four years work experience in a Human Resources function, preferably in Leave of Absence administration.
- Proficient in MS office suite (Excel, Word, Access, Adobe).
- Experience with SAP and/or Success Factors.
