Job Description
Essential DutiesWork with researchers on hardware and software issues, during office hours or via support tickets.
Working with vendors to resolve hardware issues as they arise in the data center.
Participate in the rotating on-call schedule (after hours emergencies and tickets).
Creating scripts, adding automation as needed.
Documenting new processes, updating documentation as needed.
Maintain operating systems, security updates, and upgrades.
Monitoring of systems, fixing issues as they arise.
Provisioning virtual machines.
Provisioning storage.
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Document processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field AND four (4) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Eight (8) years experience providing related information technology services, OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.

Evidence of:
HPC-specific knowledge (Slurm, Infiniband, MPI)
Linux Experience (CentOS 7, Rocky 8)
Data transfer tools (Globus, rclone)
Experience in:
Scripting languages (bash, python, perl, awk)
Automation stacks (Ansible, Saltstack, Puppet)

Working Environment
Some activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
Be comfortable in a hybrid work environment (In person/Datacenter/Zoom).
Must have reliable transportation to campus and the Datacenter.
Parking on campus is not provided but is available via University parking passes.
Datacenter:
Certain activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of standing and keyboarding between working with server equipment.
Exposure to loud noises (ear protection provided and strongly encouraged), high and low temperatures, strong cooling-fan-induced wind.
Performing non-keyboard tasks require bending, stooping, kneeling, prolonged standing, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus/within the Data Center.
Lab:
Certain activities are performed in an environmentally controlled laboratory.
Exposure to clean rooms and secure areas.
Performing non-keyboard tasks require bending, stooping, kneeling, prolonged standing.
Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, calculator, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
Work laptop will be provided.
Technology use plan includes partial personal Cellular-plan reimbursement.
Occasional use of tools and machinery required by the position.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
