Summary

Dr. Bert O'Malley, (Chancellor of Baylor College of Medicine) holds research labs in the scientific research area of Hormone action, coactivator function, eukaryotic gene expression, gene therapy, nanotechnology.

Job Duties

  • Operates all the instrumentation needed for the projects (training will be provided as needed).
  • Documents experimental procedures in precise details.
  • Collects and compiles imaging and cell culture data.
  • Prepares reagents and solutions.
  • Performs experimental work as needed that includes live cell experiments and cell culture (2D/3D).
  • Troubleshoots problematic results.
  • Collects and performs experiments using primary cells from animals.
  • Manages a limited number of mouse colonies.
  • Interacts directly and reports to the drug development team.
  • Maintains core laboratory organization and monitors lab reagents. 
  • Optimizes novel assays and protocols under the drug development team guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
