Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Director, Genomics. The Director Genomics directs the Genomics service core at the University of Nevada, Reno, reviews potential new services to be offered, determines feasibility and sets prices to be charged for the services. The incumbent researches the instruments which may potentially be added to the Center and negotiates the purchase with company representatives. The Director Genomics cooperates in the preparation of research grants for the purpose of acquiring new instrumentation, develops new protocols and experimental techniques to be used in the Center, and troubleshoots instrument failures. This position trains students in the molecular biology techniques used by the Center, trains clients in the use of software used for the analysis of data generated by the Center and assists in interpretation of that data. The Director trains technicians and interns in the use of the equipment and software, organizes the flow of jobs such that all clients receive their data in a timely manner, sets policies on use of equipment by students and researchers, and oversees the operation and maintenance of all equipment. The director performs quality control on the data produced, forms contacts with potential clients, maintains a database of all clients, does all the budgeting and keeps all the records required to maintain a recharge account.

Doctorate Degree in science or molecular biology

Compensation Grade - C

The typical salary range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000

Salary is based on related education and experience, internal equity and budgets.
