Summary:

The Conrad Prebys Center for Chemical Genomics at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute is seeking a Lab Assistant I or II to be a contributing member of the Lab Operations team. The candidate will be asked to perform a variety of tasks.  Primary duties include but are not limited to; distributing orders, maintaining data banks and lab inventories, preparing media as directed, maintaining equipment and ensuring the lab is stocked.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Performs routine laboratory tasks, which includes the preparation of laboratory supplies and/or equipment.
  • Maintains data banks and lab inventories, including documenting and distributing orders
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Work positively and enthusiastically as part of a team
  • Be responsible, organized, motivated and a problem solver
  • Strong attention to detail is a must
  • Ability to learn new instrumentation and software is essential

Education and/or Experience:

Requires a high school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Prior laboratory experience of college level biochemistry or chemistry science courses are preferred.

COMPENSATION: 

The expected hiring range for this position is $16.30 - $26.45/hour, commensurate with experience.
