Positions Multiple NIH funded positions are available immediately in the laboratory of Saghi Ghaffari MD-PhD (https://labs.icahn.mssm.edu/ghaffarilab/) in the Tisch Cancer Institute/Black Family Stem Cell Institute in the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Our Research Our translationally impactful research is centered on stem cell mechanisms that promote the development of blood cancers and that interface with stem cell aging. Our current major focus is on lysosome-mediated regulation of stem cells in the context of leukemic/hematopoietic stem cells, building on our recently published findings (Ghaffari, Cell Stem Cell, 2021; Liang et al., Cell Stem Cell, 2020; Qiu et al., Blood Advances, 2021; Liang et al., Blood Advances, 2021; Rimmele et al., Stem Cell Reports 2014; EMBO Reports 2015; Bigarella et al., Development 2014). We use state-of-the art cutting-edge approaches, including functional xenograft assays, single cell technologies, genomic studies, etc applied to leukemia mouse models and human blood forming stem cells.

Who Should Apply? Highly motivated, skilled and ambitious post-doctoral candidates are encouraged to apply. Candidates must hold a PhD degree in biology or related fields and/or an MD degree and have a strong expertise in molecular and cellular biology and protein biochemistry. Knowledge/expertise in lysosomal or mitochondrial biology, immunology, metabolism, or related areas is a plus. An expertise in stem cell biology or blood-related research is desirable but not required. Candidates must have a strong track record of first-author publications in cell biology or related areas.
