Job Description
The Medical Office Assistant represents and supports the mission, philosophy and goals of the Moffitt Cancer Center through interaction with patients and/or their representative for registration, insurance, scheduling, order entry, screening and medical necessity. Facilitates an efficient patient flow in a variety of speciality clinics by performing patient intake, preparing patients for clinical exams and setting up for procedures.
May assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, Attending Physician or Provider.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Military Technician training required
- Minimum one (1) year experience in an outpatient clinical setting
- Two (2) years demonstrated customer service skills
- minimum two (2) years preferred in healthcare with managed care, insurance verification, collections and authorizations
