St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.

We are seeking a full-time Database Administrator who will be responsible for the administration, architecture and maintenance of the College's Unidata and MS SQL Server databases.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Install and manage entire lifecycle of MS SQL servers in a high-availability environment.
Ensure the security, reliability, and integrity of all databases. Stay current with best practices for database security and availability.
Review, evaluate and implement requests for changes to database architecture.
Analyze, troubleshoot and optimize system and database performance. Tune and balance clustered SQL servers.
Assist end-users in developing and using database reporting tools.
Manage and provide capacity planning.
Monitor database server performance and health.
Create and administer a proper database backup strategy as a part of a Managed Information Lifecycle.
Configure and tune MS SQL server on current and future versions of Microsoft server operating systems to achieve maximum uptime and performance.
Oversee and perform upgrades, conversions, and deployments.
Write technical documentation for internal IT audiences.
Comply with IT procedure for reporting child pornography on SCC equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or related discipline plus four years full-time relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with implementations, upgrades and patching databases.
Proficiency in developing, troubleshooting and optimizing SQL.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting ability.
Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Be a creative problem solver with project planning skills and a desire to learn new technologies.
Experience with Unidata databases and higher education strongly preferred.
