Summary

This position will lead the strategic direction of the Pediatrics Rheumatology Division's business operations to ensure that current and long-term business goals are met. This is a critical role in the daily operations in relations to human resources and budget governance in partnership with the Division Head, Pediatrics Administration and affiliate partner, Texas Children's Hospital. Performing and assisting with implementation of financial, human resources and grant-related activities (pre- and post-awards) and other programs.

Job Duties

  • Serves as the BCM human resource, grants, and financial administrator lead for the Division, while managing daily operations of Division for all mission areas (clinical, administration, research, and teaching).
  • Actively collaborates with Division Head, Pediatrics Administration and affiliate partner TCH on staffing plans and faculty recruitment and business operations of the Division.
  • Manages $3.4 million budget (operational budget) included oversight and approval of day to day financial and payroll actions.
  • Develops, prepares and reviews financial reports including but not limited to TCH operating funds, grants, general appropriations, restricted gifts, and other funds.
  • Reviews and approves payroll, human resources, and invoice actions in SuccessFactors.
  • Ensures the ongoing review and development of process improvements to maximize operating and business productivity.
  • Manages faculty recruitment and onboarding process; oversees credentialing at multiple hospital locations.
  • Provides human resource management for staff development, on/off boarding and performance management.
  • Oversees Division admin support employees. Includes assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals, maintaining schedules, and providing feedback during annual performance management. Assists and establishes goals for admin support employees.
  • Oversees and manages Division employees' cost and effort distribution and provides monthly cost/effort distribution analysis.
  • Provides financial management with external grant for both pre-award and post-award related tasks in support of department faculty members. Includes budget administration, performing cost assessments, monitoring financial transactions, and financial reporting to make strategic decisions based on financial data.
  • Human Resources
    • Responsible for all onboarding (new staff and faculty) in SuccessFactors, faculty appointment and promotion process, and staff promotions as needed.
    • Collaborates with Division Head and affiliate partner (TCH) on staffing and faculty recruitment and business operations of the Division (i.e., Clinical, Administration, Research, Teaching).
  • Grants
    • Provides financial management with pre- and post award related tasks in support of Division faculty.
  • Budget administration - external grant accounts
    • Performs cost assessments.
    • Monitors financial transactions and financial reports for grant accounts.
    • Manages cost and effort for grant funded personnel.
  • Financial
    • Serves as finance approver for all SuccessFactors and SRM transactions.
    • Monitors financial transactions and financial reports for operational funds (including TCH accounts).
    • Manages cost and effort for all faculty and staff regardless of funding source.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • Six years of relevant experience.
