Job Description

Maintain safe and effective use of Ball State University pools.
Recreation Services is seeking lifeguards with active lifeguard certifications to help cover Lewellen Pool and Ball Pool throughout the summer.

Job Function:

Maintain safe and effective use of Ball State University pools.

Minimum Education:

At least a 10th grade education and 16 years of age and older.

Minimum Experience:

Current certification in Lifeguard, First-aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer from a nationally recognized organization (American Red Cross, StarGuard, YMCA, Ellis, etc.)

Preferred Experience:

Additional experience life guarding in public pool setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor all safety and customer service aspects of Lewellen Aquatic Center and Ball Pool during hours of operation.
  • Enforce Recreation Services policies and procedures.
  • Test and monitor pool water chemistry.
  • Maintain accurate pool participation counts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
