Job DescriptionSENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to be responsible for the management, operations, strategic planning, and implementation of the USAID BRIDGE-Train Award, which is estimated to be a $15M award over five years to build the innovation and research capacity of higher education institutions in Guatemala and neighboring Central American countries. Responsibilities include producing, operationalizing, and managing the implementation of the workplan and other operational plans; managing the production of deliverables; managing project activities to ensure that the team meets its objectives within budget and timelines; developing and managing the budget; managing personnel on the MIT team; serving as the liaison with the project manager at two institutions receiving subawards; establishing and managing relationships with subawardees and professional service providers; serving as the liaison to USAID; incorporating results of the monitoring, learning, and evaluation activities, and developing recommendations for improvements; and developing and executing communication strategies.

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in international affairs, public administration, public policy, or a project-related technical field; at least five years’ administration or operations and/or project management experience and at least one year of experience leading and/or managing projects of similar size and scope; excellent project management skills; experience managing projects with multiple partners to achieve objectives on time and within budget; ability to write and speak succinctly and effectively in English and preferably in Spanish; and ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with a diversity of people within collaborator institutions. Funding for this project has not been awarded. If the team is successful in the proposal process, the award will be made in March 2021. An offer will be dependent on receiving the award. This will be a five-year term position.
